6 Gallon Tank: 74.4 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.59
Make up water: 73.6 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.41
On 12/26/15, I did the usual. I tried to calibrate the pH meter twice but, both times, it failed. I then just used it
with the previous calibration. I can't believe it's dead already; I will try fresh pH solutions next week to see if that
works. The first pH meter reading, I got 6.85, 6.86, and 6.81.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 78.3 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.99
6 Gallon Tank: 75.0 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.07
Make up water: 73.3 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.03
On 1/2/16, I did the usual. I forgot to get new pH solutions so I couldn't calibrate the bad pH meter but still used it.
The first pH meter reading, I got 7.42, 7.35, and 7.19.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 76.8 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.43

6 Gallon Tank: 76.0 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.37
Make up water: 73.1 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.20
On 2/6/16, I did the usual. I tried to calibrate the pH meter twice but it failed both times. This
is getting really irritating! I went ahead and used the meter although you can see the results truly
cannot be anywhere near reality! The first pH meter reading, I got 5.56, 5.66, and 5.80.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 75.8 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.53
6 Gallon Tank: 73.8 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.62
Make up water: 73.4 degrees F, forgot to measure SG, pH 6.61
On 2/13/16, I did the usual. I tried to calibrate the pH meter twice, and it finally passed with a delay the
second time. The readings were ridiculous. Remember that the make up water is a reef salt mix with added
calcium. The mix says it makes a pH near 8. The first pH meter reading, I got 5.51, 5.66, and 5.79.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 74.4 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.70
6 Gallon Tank: 75.1 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.75
Make up water: 73.2 degrees F, 1.0255 SG, pH 6.66
On 2/20/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 7.25, 7.17, and 6.95. Look at how different the results
are from last week when they should be almost the same!
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 74.7 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.61
6 Gallon Tank: 73.7 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.62
Make up water: 73.3 degrees F, 1.0255 SG, pH 7.42
On 2/21/16, I was getting crickets at Petco when I noticed that they had a few coral frags which was unusual for them.
They were only $15. I saw a kind I didn't have, a Goniopora so I picked him up. I'm not sure where to
place the frag but stuck it in a crevice of rock in the 6 gallon tank after drip acclimation. He's still tiny so I have
time to figure out a plan. That tank is full of mushrooms, and the 12 gallon is overtaken by green star polyps which
I have to cut back almost every week to get them from blocking all the light to the little brain coral.
On 2/27/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 7.55, 7.42, and 7.20. Look at how different the results
are from last week when they should be almost the same!
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 75.8 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.72
6 Gallon Tank: 76.7 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 7.72
Make up water: 73.7 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.53
On 3/5/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 7.63, 7.54, and 7.32. Nemo bit
me hard enough to draw blood.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 75.8 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.89
6 Gallon Tank: 76.6 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 7.88
Make up water: 73.5 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 7.72
On 3/12/16, I did the usual. I calibrated the pH meter if you can call it that. Look at these
ridiculous results. The first pH meter reading, I got 5.50, 5.51, and 5.59. Nemo bit me
again but no blood.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 77.1 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.40
6 Gallon Tank: 76.7 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.40
Make up water: 73.6 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.41
On 3/19/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 6.24, 6.28, and 6.34. I moved the new
Goniopora coral a few inches over and up in the 6 gallon tank after picking a huge mushroom coral
and putting it elsewhere. The mushrooms have taken over and killed my other corals. ;-(
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 77.3 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.39
6 Gallon Tank: 74.4 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.42
Make up water: 73.1 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.46
On 3/26/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 6.24, 6.28, and 6.35.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 76.8 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.42
6 Gallon Tank: 76.3 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.45
Make up water: 73.7 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.50
On 4/2/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 5.95, 5.86, and 5.88.
I know you're lying pH meter!
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 78.6 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.03
6 Gallon Tank: 75.4 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.06
Make up water: 73.9 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.15
On 4/9/16, I did the usual. I calibrated the pH meter which should make it better but makes it worse.
The first pH meter reading, I got 5.20, 5.37, and 5.48.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 75.4 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.28
6 Gallon Tank: 73.7 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.32
Make up water: 73.7 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.31
On 4/16/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 6.13, 6.10, and 6.14.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 76.6 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.16
6 Gallon Tank: 74.9 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.19
Make up water: 73.6 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.23
On 4/23/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 6.10, 6.11, and 6.17. I bought some dip sticks
and tested the water. The nitrate and nitrite were all negative. The pH read as 7 for the two tanks but 8.5 for
the make-up water which is what I would expect even though the pH meter always has a low result. The KH read as
around 80 ppm for the two tanks and 180 ppm for the make-up water. It would be expected to have more.
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 79.9 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.29
6 Gallon Tank: 74.9 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.30
Make up water: 74.5 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.31
On 4/30/16, I did the usual. The first pH meter reading, I got 6.16, 6.19, and 6.25. The pH meter is totally
worthless. I don't know why I keep recording this information. It's hard to break the habit I guess. I really
don't need to check the water weekly unless there's a problem. I need to stop. Is there a 10 step program?
The water test results for the day were:
12 Gallon Tank: 77.2 degrees F, 1.026 SG, pH 6.26
6 Gallon Tank: 74.9 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.29
Make up water: 73.6 degrees F, 1.025 SG, pH 6.34
On 5/7/16, I did the usual except I gave up on the pH meter. It was due for calibration but what's the point?
The results are so far from real that I don't do anything about them anyway! I did check the salinity for both
tanks and the make-up water. They were all 1.025 SG.
I did the usual on 5/14/16. The three salinity results were 1.0255, 1.025, and 1.025 SG. I changed the lamp out in the
6 gallon nano tank.
I did the usual on 5/21/16. I have no idea why I didn't record the salinity results here!
I did the usual a day late on 5/29/16. All three salinities were 1.025. The thermometer read 84 in the 12 gallon tank and
78 degrees F in the 6 gallon tank. I changed the two lamps in the 12 gallon nano tank.
On 6/4/16, all three salinities were 1.025. The 12 gallon's thermometer read 84 degrees F, and the 6 gallon's read 80 degrees F.
On 6/11/16, all three salinities were 1.025. The 12 gallon's thermometer read 84 degrees F, and the 6 gallon's
thermometer read 80 degrees F.
On 6/18/16, the salinities were 1.025, 1.0255, and 1.025 for the 12 and 6 gallon tanks and the make-up water.
The 12 gallon's thermometer read 85 degrees F, and the 6 gallon's thermometer read 80 degrees F.
On 6/25/16, the salinities were 1.025, 1.025, and 1.025 for the 12 and 6 gallon tanks and the make-up water.
The 12 gallon's thermometer read 84 degrees F, and the 6 gallon's thermometer read 80 degrees F.
